Community invited to unveiling of Educational Video in Spanish about Fire Safety and Prevention: “Proteja a su Familia” About Fire Safety and Prevention: “Proteja a su Familia”
Columbus, OH. A new educational video about Fire Safety and Prevention in the Spanish language has been created with the goal to educate the Hispanic and Latino community about the importance of fire safety and prevention. The unveiling of the video will take place at 2 :00 pm on Friday, September 26th, at the North Room, on the 31ST. Floor of the Vern Riffe Bldg. [77 S. High St. Columbus, 43215].
Gabriela F. Pacheco-Linik, who directed the project explains : “Our goal with this video is to deliver easy to understand information in Spanish to Latino parents, families and children. We want them to understand how to prevent fire emergencies at home, what to do if there is a fire, and most importantly, how to reach out for help when needed. Although these may seem simple action steps for the general public, they can be a real challenge when you do not speak the language, or understand how the Emergency Services function in the community.”
OCHLA has sponsored the reproduction of copies of the video which will be distributed free of charge across Ohio to Latino and Latino serving organizations, community leaders, libraries, churches, and other entities. Other collaborators in the project include firefighter Jaime Sierra from the Columbus Division of Fire, Carrie Beyer from Biomed Services, OSU, and many other people who have devoted their time and efforts for the completion of this informational video.
