Cincinnati Faith Leaders Call on Members of Congress and Senate to
Make Comprehensive Immigration Reform a Priority before Easter
Cincinnati – This Friday at 10 a.m. at Su Casa Hispanic Ministry Center, faith leaders are calling on the President and Members of Congress to keep their promise and pass comprehensive immigration reform this spring. They promised to fix our broken immigration system and keep families together but they haven’t delivered. There have been speeches and promises but no action.
Faith, business and labor leaders met this week with members of Congress from all over Ohio and across the country. Part of a national week of action, reform advocates have organized more than 50 meetings with members of Congress and high-level staff, and thousands of short visits to local offices. Advocates expect to make or send tens of thousands of phone calls, faxes, and emails this week.
The following leaders will share their faith tradition’s response to the current situation:
Who: Fr. James Schutte, Pastor, St. Leo the Great Catholic parish
Karen Dabdoub, Executive Eirector, Council on American Islamic Relations
Rev. Gregory Chandler, Pastor, World Outreach Christian Church and president, The AMOS Project
Fr. Jorge Ochoa, pastor, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic parish
